Silver and Gold Persians

The dangers of purchasing a Silver or Golden Persian Online

Silver Persian Kitten

Ahh, the majestic silver and Gold Persian cat! Known as the Royals Royce of the Persian breed. Regal & polished to perfection in every aspect. So why is purchasing a quality silver or gold Persian so difficult? We will explain the hidden dangers behind this breathtaking color division. Silver and Gold Persians are among the most complex colors to purchase online, sight unseen, for one primary reason—their hateful and sometimes highly aggressive behavior towards other cats, dogs, and humans alike.

You might ask yourself, why is this? Let us break it down for you before you get a silver or gold Persian that is downright dangerous in your home.
Each color division has “standards” set forth by cat registries. One of the top requirements for a silver or golden Persian is dark green eyes. Knowing there are only 12 bloodlines in this color division makes many line-bred or, even worse, inbred to obtain this desired eye color.
One particular line/breeder achieved extremely dark green-eyed cats but did so by extreme inbreeding. While the eye color was magnificent, the personality was dreadful! The breeder valued eye color over temperament to increase their chances of winning cat shows.
Breeding programs worldwide wanted this line despite their hateful personalities.
After about two decades, they had bred this horrific personality into countless catteries worldwide. Over 3/4 of the silver and gold population has this dangerous line bred into it to preserve the coveted emerald green eyes.

It has been an uphill battle to purchase a new silver or gold bloodline for your cattery and avoid encountering this dreadful gene that never should have been bred into this color division. You don’t even need to look at the pedigree. You can tell if that line has been bred into the cat simply by touching it. They are literally feral! This line first emerged in the silver Persians, but because silver and gold are compatible, it soon spread into the golden and blue-golden Persians.
As a long-standing Persian cat breeder, we set our sights on filtering out this vicious line, one cat at a time. No eye color is worth having your child or yourself attacked. Cat bites can be a severe situation.
Why even have a beautiful Persian cat if it hides in every crack and crevice in your home and then attacks you if you attempt to touch it?

It has taken us decades to filter out this vicious line. So when you see us listing our silver and golds with blue-green, turquoise, and aqua-colored eyes, this is why. We refuse to breed hateful cats for any reason. We have been filtering out this vicious line for decades to ensure beautiful, healthy kittens. We take pride in their fabulous personalities since our clients seek furry family companions, not show ribbons.
One way to tell if this dangerous line is in a particular kitten is by watching how a breeder displays their available kittens. If the kitten is being held up in a picture by a breeder’s hand, chances are that’s because that cat has this wild line bred into it and can’t be photographed any other way.
